I've been working on a side project off and on over the past few months. It's really slow going, as I only work on it when I have time (and remember to), but it's coming along, slowly but surely. The biggest roadblock I have when starting a project of this sort is coming up with a good story. I had an idea pop into my head one day (day after my birthday, matter o' fact), so I sat down and wrote out a quick outline. This prompted me to keep going with it, so the next step I took was to draw out a storyboard. This took quite a while, as I would get bored with it for a few days, then draw a panel or two, then get bored, and so on and so forth. But finally I finished drawing it out, and now have begun working on prop elements.

In this third section, I cover setting up menu and cut scenes, importing a gun to pick up and point, shooting the gun to knock over the boxes, and then finally adding a sound effect when the gun is shot.

In this first section of this Blender 2.5 Video Tutorial, I cover the creation of a game-friendly model (i.e. low-polygon), texturing, rigging, animating, and bringing it into the game engine with basic forward and back controls, as well as turning left and right, and running.
The first 8 minutes of the video is a time lapse video of me modeling and rigging a quick low poly character. If you are unfamiliar with this part of it please visit my alien rigging series here on Blender Cookie. With this series we wanted to focus a bit more on the game engine.

In this Blender Video Game Engine Tutorial, I cover setting up gravity dynamics, boxes that can be pushed around with Eddie, a “pushing” pose that Eddie goes into while doing the pushing (a “near” sensor). We also go into multiple scenes, and going back and forth between them, as well as a scene reset, in case you fall into the oblivion.

In this Blender 2.5 Video Tutorial, I go further with the particle hair system and cover the creation of fur in multiple layers.
Keep watching at the end, as I added some lighting tips to get a better-looking render.
